I’m back again this week with 5 simple, food tips to help you enjoy Thanksgiving AND ALSO start off December with your health goals still on track.
Because the holidays do not have to be a setback for your health goals.
I want to help you pre-plan now, so that you can enjoy the holiday weekend AND ALSO start off December with your belly happy, your blood sugar stable and the feeling of accomplishment that your health goals are still on track!
But how to do that?
The key is in your mindset.
Here’s Part 2 of your Holiday Wellness Toolkit with 5 simple, food tips:
- Bring a safe choice: If you have dietary restrictions or are trying to eat heart-healthy, bring a dish that works for you to the gathering. This prevents feelings of scarcity and ensures you have a good option. 🍎
- Slightly reduce your serving size. Serve yourself a tablespoon less of each food item than you initially think you want. I promise you (and your waistline) won’t miss it! 🤏🏻
- Limit white carbs. Try to reduce or pass by some of the “white foods” (like rolls, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc) to help balance out your meal. Bonus if you BOOST the green veggies on your plate to balance it out even further! 🥐
- Listen to fullness cues. Stop eating when you feel satisfied, not stuffed—aim for a level of about 7 out of 10 fullness. Your body will thank you later! ✋🏻
- Pick one dessert – not 3! The holidays are meant to be special so it’s ok to make room for something that you really love – just don’t go on a blowout! Select your favorite from the dessert table. Take a moderate portion and savor it. Yum! 🍰
